As if gamers needed more bad news this year, GTA 6’s 2025 release has been pushed back an entire year (and we honestly shouldn’t even be surprised)…
Grand Theft Auto 6 is LITERALLY on track to spend more time and money than Dubai’s Burj Khalifa. One of the costliest construction projects in gaming history.
Grand Theft Auto VI is now set to release on May 26, 2026.

Why The Delay?
Even though Rockstar tried keeping it vague, the reasons for the delay are pretty obvious:
Time Crunched Delivery vs. Polished Delivery: Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier noted that many at Rockstar knew a Fall 2025 release date was unrealistic due to the Florida inspired Vice City map
Past Leaks: An early footage leak in 2022 forced the dev team to tighten security which in-turn slowed progress
Why does it matter?
Take-Two Interactive saw its stock dip 8-16% after this news (sales forecasts also dropped from $8 billion to $6.35)
Fall 2025 is now a free-for-all for titles like Borderlands 4, Ghost of Yotei, 2K26, Nintendo Switch 2 bangers, like Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon Z-A and many more titles which may would definitely have been overshadowed
What’s Next?
Earnings call on May 15th will reveal the delays’ impact on the development process.
