Most titles fail to make it out of the early development stages. Despite unholy amounts of capital raised, seemingly bustling communities, and experiences that can be considered “fun”, most games dissolve into memories due to lack of funding or other common issues. Unfortunately, we have more titles to add to the long list of Web3 game closures.

  • Tokyo Beast announced their sudden shutdown via Medium article and promised an NFT buyback to holders

  • Mighty Bear Games will be sunsetting Mighty Action Heroes to focus on “GOAT GAMING”, their telegram mini-app

  • Unioverse cites market shifts, AI disruption, and 6 months of funding struggles as the key factors for the game’s shutdown

This pattern isn’t new, and as Payton documented in his article about Web3 gaming’s broken promises, these shutdowns highlight how the industry consistently overpromised and underdelivered from the very start…
